People looking to enhance, and improve the speed with which they read have many choices when it comes to speed-reading courses, and computer software. Quality varies between the services available, but there are two that stand out from the crowd…for different reasons.
Obviously, there are certain elements to these tutorials, which will be the same in principle, but there are also variations to the respective systems that are worth highlighting.
The two pieces of software in question are called Eye Q, and 7 Speed Reading. Of the two 7 Speed Reading is the most recent to have entered the marketplace, and by far the easiest to understand.
This is probably the biggest difference between the two, although there is a rather alarming chasm in the respective prices.
But first the differences, or to be more specific the biggest difference, and this is the style, presentation, and on the face of it the quality of the two products offered. While the description of the Eye Q program on its website is good at giving a summary of the “science” behind its software, it is also equally lacking in any real substance. Having said that, this reviewer found the Eye Q summaries of the way the brain works when reading actually slightly muddled, and ironically hard to read! This may have been a result of a “lost in translation” scenario as the Eye Q product is based on the work of a Japanese scientist.
In comparison, the 7 Speed Reading website is easy to read, and one gets a very clear understanding of what is on offer, as well as an indication of the processes required to learn how to read faster. The Eye Q system is too heavily weighted on the science without giving any suggestion as to how the budding student is going to learn to actually read faster using its product. Although the 7 Speed Reading software descriptions also informs the reader that the program is “scientifically designed,” it doesn’t dwell on this, and is much better at describing all the features, and activities it contains, and a much more satisfying explanation of the theory behind improving the way we can read, and the skills required.
The 7 Speed Reading program also offers a fully-integrated personalized course that all the family can use, and a handy Step-By-Step system that also features unique individually monitored tracking to gauge progress.
Along with this major discrepancy between the two packages comes a rather shocking gap between the prices. Although the Eye Q website gives you the chance to download a trial version for under $15 for 30 days, you need to be prepared to fork out a further $83.33 per month for three months to receive the full working version of the software. That’s a total of just over $260.
The 7 Speed Reading program costs just $67, but includes a no-questions-asked money back guarantee for those who are not completely satisfied.
In the case of Eye Q versus 7 Speed Reading it is a toss-up between science and practicality.
